Tyrek Cheeseboro told ESPN affiliate Web site TerpCenter.com that he has a top school.

"I'm favored towards Maryland right now because it is my home-state university. The coaches are great - coach Ralph Friedgen, coach [James] Franklin, everybody that's talked to me. It's a great coaching staff, I really love it a lot... I really love how everything is close knit together--like everything is a big family, and that's one thing I really loved about it."

The Terps and Pittsburgh have offered Cheeseboro, who caught 38 passes for 776 yards (20.4 average) and 11 touchdowns during his junior campaign.

Sources are saying that Deshawn Painter has narrowed it down to two schools. With NC State signing the 7ft. center, it has all but knocked them out of the Painter race. One source tells me that the "Va Tech visit went well today and Painter really likes the student body and the campus." This really comes down to Maryland's visit who seems to be the leader in the Painter recruitment. If Maryland were to land Painter it would play a signifigant role in Vasquez going to the NBA.

Just in from Zags blog that Point guard Malik Stith of Bridgton (Me.) Academy has verbally committed to St. John’s.

This could play a role in Lance Stephenson's college decision. It also could leave Maryland and Arizona as his choices.

The Lance Stephenson Sweepstakes continues to drag on with no end in site. “They’re not close to making any type of decision. It’s not even close,” said a source with direct knowledge who had communicated with the Stephenson family. “There’s no timetable.”

The 6-foot-5 Stephenson initially listed Kansas, Maryland and St. John’s as his options, although Kansas now appears to be out of the running with the recent signing of Xavier Henry.

“We don’t have any scholarships left,” a Kansas source said.

Arizona and Memphis have both tried to reach out to the Stephenson family, but sources say there has been no movement on either front. Both of those schools appear to make sense, as both need wing players and both play an up-and-down style — especially Memphis.

The late signing period ends May 20, but there is nothing preventing Stephenson from announcing after that date.

“He said he’s not even close to making a decision,” the first source said.
